Spaying is much healthier for her - it will reduce her chances of developing mammalian cancer and other health complications down the road. Also, older dogs in heat have a huge risk of pyometra - a potentially fatal infection if not caught quickly and treated. There's also the added bonus of no heat cycles! That was enough for me!
