thats what a "topknot" is, pretty much a pony tail on the top of the head. My toy poodle doesnt like them either, she will rub her head over and over agian to get it out so I just keep the hair on her head short. Tucker my yorkie mix doesnt care either way.
Ive never heard of anyone using baby oil or gel to keep the hair back and out of the eyes, hopefully someone will have some advice for you.
