The general description on the AKC website says they "range from 4 to 7 lbs.
Further down on the same page the standard says officially "not to exceed seven lbs."
A three lb yorkie that meets the rest of the standard is a standard Yorkie. This is the reason the term teacup doesn't apply.
It's ok to discuss this in the same innocent way that the term was used by the OP.
