While Teiya is a beautiful girl, IMO, she's not breed standard or a good specimen to breed. She's so small that I question the risk to her health should she ever become pregnant. |
If she's only had one heat cycle, by getting her spayed before she has a second heat cycle you can lower her risk of ever getting mammary cancer to 8%. If you wait until after her second heat cycle, the risk rises to 25%.
You also eliminate her risk of pyometra by spaying her. We have a member with a very sick Yorkie right now about the same age as Teiya. She was just diagnosed with pyometra and is fighting for her life.
