This actually happened to a friend of mine (a member here actually) once and the posters actually bragged about it. It wasn't here but on a "private forum" but they are members here. They sent nasty emails, some using made up names because she had a website where she sold puppies. It was disgusting. I know this happens and these were "members you would recognize" so I think when you read the nasty things some people here posted, it is unfortunate, but I wouldn't hesitate to conclude that the phone calls are from some of the same.

Human nature is strange sometimes and when a group gets worked up into a frenzy over something, they can lose all sense of decorum very qucikly.

I know some are tired of my lectures but I cringed when I saw the breeder's first post because I KNEW what some here would do. We need to stop bashing people PERIOD!!!!
