I no longer look at it as a money oppurtunity but as a chance to improve the breed and one day show a good quality dog that could win champions. I have talked to many breeders about breeding my pair and have yet to really find the best mentor for me, but with a great vet on my side (my aunt) helping me find a great breeder as well as doing my own research I have made a check list in what qualities I want from a mentor and what qualities I want to learn from her breeding program.

Hope you find your mentor that fits well into your breeding system that you want to creat!
It sounds like your goals and aspirations are similar to mine. The best thing is to attend some shows and even visit some show breeders if possible. Honestly, I don't think finding a good mentor is as easy as people think. Most show breeders have their hands full just taking care of their own dogs and at shows they are also very busy. Most of us learn from talking to others, reading books, watching videos and then getting some good old hands on experience. Believe me, breeding and showing quality yorkies is not as easy as one would think. I know many show breeders that produce litters from champions and champion lines that do not get a champion out of a litter. Then there are those occasions where several out of a litter might become champions. Showing is very costly, growing coat and grooming a show dog can become very frustrating at times but it can also be very rewarding.

I do wish you all the best and I hope all your dreams come true.
