I have a 2lb yorkie who is 11 months and hasn't had her first heat cycle. I dropped her off this morning to be spayed. The Dr. reassured me that she would be fine. I'm still worried about her because she is so tiny. They told me that if she was to go in heat before her surgery that they would still be able to do the surgery. Your little Shelby looks like my Katie, awww she's so sweet. I am going to call this evening and check on her. I will keep you posted. Yes, they have to keep them overnight. I don't like that either.
