Not to worry too much. My Savannah had HGE three years ago. She has never had another problem with it. Hge is when the lining of intestine gets irritated from too much diarrhea, then it gets inflamed & bleeds. If caught early enough it can be cured with the new medicine they use now. They put her on IV fluids & Falagel. I keep it on hand just in case, but I never had to use it. My Krissy 9 years ago died from it, as they didn't know much about it back then. Now they know a lot more about it. I keep my Savannah on a prescripion diet always, just because I don't ever want her to have this problem again, it brought back very sad memories of losing my Krissy. I give Savannah treats, but bland ones. Good luck to you & your baby. |
