Hi Cheryl............welcome to Yorkie Talk! Congratulations on the upcoming litter of 4; sounds like it could be any time now.
How exciting! Yes the whelping pudding is normally for after the pups arrive. I mixed about a tablespoon in with her her food each time she ate. It helps keep her calcium supply up. There was also an "immediately after whelping" recipie that I got from here that my girl lapped up like crazy after she had her pups. I'll see if I can find it for you. Good luck to you and Sophie; I'll be praying for a safe whelp & the arrival of some healthy puppies soon.
