No, not ALL breeders are puppy mills, but the truly reputable breeders are a very small number compared to the number of puppy mills. A rescue dog takes no more work to train and socialize than a puppy and they love you, probably more, because they're so happy to be out of that horrid situation and with a family who loves them. Okay, they might not be absolutely perfect, but unless you're going to show them it doesn't make a difference if their front teeth are a little crooked or their nose is a little longer, or they weigh 6 pounds instead of 2. It takes a little work, sometimes, to find the adopted/rescue dog you want, but they're out there. |
