This morning we woke up and he was constipated, so I got my rubber gloves on to help him and his hair was all caught up in dried stool, so I cleaned it up for him. Now he is straining every now and then but only a few drops of liquid is coming out. I did notice he stopped eating his wet food and only ate dry food, now he is barely touching his water or any food. He's sleeping by himself shivering at the moment...

You might need to feed him some pure canned pumpkin - not the spiced pumpkin pie filler. Pumpkin is magical for these guys = when they are constipated it will help loosen them up. And if they have the opposite problem, with diarrhea it will help firm up their stools.
Have you ever had a puppy before? They really need lots of time & attn. You might find it very helpful to read this
