I'm sorry but I have to disagree with a couple of you here as there are exceptions to the rule. Yes, for the most part, pet stores are bad, especially the big commercial ones or chain stores...but...there are some good pet stores out there.

Case in point: We have a pet store in our mall here but they do not take puppies from breeders. They are a small store who takes the mixed breed puppies from the paper, gets them all spayed/neutered and shots up to date and then they adopt them out for the cost they have in them. They work with one of the shelters here and a local vet provides the medical services they need. They take donations and you do have to fill out an application before being allowed to take a puppy home.

So, not all pet stores are bad but if you want to look in one it might be a good idea to do some research first. I would not hesitate to purchase a puppy from the pet store we have in our mall here...they provide a great service to this area.
