My husband took me out for dinner on Valentine's Day. We were gone for only 2.5 hours. When we go home, we interrupted a burglary. The thieves entered through a window...a window my dogs were capable of going in and out of. Fortunately, the window led to our enclosed back garden...but what if your house is robbed while you are at work and the thieves leave a door or window open through which your babies can escape?
That is why my three "big" (compared to Puddin') dogs wear collars with tags at all times. When Puddin' is big enough to have the run of the house (we never leave her home alone at this age) she will wear a collar with ID tags, too, even though she is also microchipped.
My house has burglar bars on it (normal in SA) and we were quite certain that our house was pretty safe from intruders...and yet we came home to find a window removed from its frame and the dogs wandering in and out at will! If a thief comes to your house and leaves the front door open as he leaves, you'll be glad your babies were wearing collars with ID tags on them!
