Eliza Doolittle is adorable! I am a first time Yorkie owner. Brody is 4 months old. I also have an 8 year old poodle, Jolie. Trust me, starting over with Brody was just that...starting over!
You'll get the hang of being a new "mom". Just be patient. And the hives are probably not from the dog. My son is allergic to absolutely everything, but not our dogs. Hives are normally a result of eating something (I got them from eating oranges when I was little) or switching detergants.
