Very good advice so far.

I would recommend sending your male to a friends home for the first few days of the heat if it's possible. And then bringing him home only long enough to do the deed. Allow them to be together only when you want them to breed and only after your female is ready to "stand" for the male.

Breeding once every other day while she is receptive has always given me the best results. It also reduces the number of days you will use to chart the arrival. This doesn't seem important now but it will in about sixty days.
