A dog can be spayed while in heat but there is more blood involved and it is just safer to wait. I would wait at least 6 week safter personally so that hopefully diestrus (going out of heat) is done and the humans go back to "normal" (anestrus). |
ETA: Apparently I haven't read up on this enough because it seems that 6 weeks after is still diestrus in most dogs (that is after estrus...when dogs are bred). The body is going back to normal though and it is fine. I have heard 4-6 weeks after and I would personally wait at least 6.
