I had a dog do this, and what I found is that when the temperature spikes up (higher than the 100 you stated) then it will drop drastically. My girl went from 99 to 98 to 101 then to 97.8 and started labor within 12 hours of the last drop. Taking the temp can be nerve racking. I used the temp chart and only took it two times a day. If you draw the line on the chart it will show you the ups & downs & spike & major drop.
