Hiro gets SO distracted outside.
ANYTHING (other than pottying) is fair game to give attention to. lol

I take him out, I put him on his run, and I say: 'Go pee.'
If he's starting to look at something I don't want him to look at and it is obvious that he has NO intention of peeing, I clap my hands and say: 'NO. Go pee.' He looks at me and usually proceeds to pee. It wasn't always like this, but I just tell him 'NO' when he's doing something wrong, and an enthusiastic GOOD BOY! and a treat (while) he is doing it right! Sometimes he pees on command, other times I have to remind him a couple times WHY we're outside.

In the beginning, I spend 10, 15, 20 minutes outside.. sometimes longer. I DID NOT COME BACK IN THE HOUSE UNTIL HE POTTIED!!!!!!!!!!! I am stubborn as an effing mule, and I can stand outside JUST as long as he can! heehee. I did, a couple times, when he didn't potty and it was cold outside or raining or something, would bring him in, put him in his crate for 15 minutes and try again. When he finally pottied, I treated him, praised him and back in the house RIGHT away! He's much quicker now, but the time has decreased over the last few months since we started. Now he takes care of it inside of 1-5 minutes.
