When we first brought Smokey home he had long hair and it was his puppy hair. OMG it matted soooooooooo bad. I'm not even kidding, the second we got him home from getting groomed, he was in a terrible knot. He wouldn't even let us brush him because it was that bad. Our groomer finally suggested that she cut him down not to shave him, but just cut that baby hair off so I agreed. His hair is beautiful now (about an inch or two long) and I thought about letting it grow out some more, but I think he will mat it. His hair is great right now because I don't even brush him unless I feel like it and his hair still looks great.
