Thanks for the replies. SO my question still is. (situation first) I have been keeping my little one (1 1/2lb) in a pen during the day(when at work or needing to put her in a safe spot) and for sleep time. She has a wee wee pad (actually 2), her crate and a few toys in it. SHe sleeps in her bed (whichis in the crate) and has been going on the pads everytime. SHe doesn't really cry at night or when I go in the morning (she knows the routine by now) unless I come home late and she hears the gagage open. It appears as if she is using the pads sometime in the middle of the night (if she goes in early) and/or in the am (between 5 and 6). She even seems to have tomove her bowels at night (midnight) and in am. This has been working (I think). I leave the pen door open during the day (when someone is supervising) and she seems to be going back and forth into it and going intoit to use her pads (and evenjumps into her bed to take a nap or gather ALL the toys in the room). I think she loves her crate just because she likes to fill it with all the bones a stuffed animals she can find (especially all of my other puppie's toys). I believe in the one room ata time method. This means that we pretty much all hang in the den (which is near the backdoor) with FiFi. The pen is near the door with the pads being in the pen and right next to the door. FiFi goes outside and uses the pads in her pen. So.....would you still put her into a shut crate at night? Right now she is downstairs with my other dog (who has lately been sleeping with my son (room right next to den). My goal is that FiFI will be able to sleep with my daughter (or me to start) all night. So.what do you think? SHe is using pads in pen. She gets up, uses them and goes back to sleep. I do not mind putting crate in my room (or another crate) and a pad next to it. Suggestions???- Kath P.S. We travel her around a lot and she does hold it for all of that. She even got a full bath and sanitary trim and she did not have an accident there. SHe wiated until we got home. She sat through a very long tax apppointment and didn't go anywhere (nor get figity). And whenever with her we do keep putting her on the pad and praising her for going. Ok...enough of me talking. lol
