We are currently in the Puppy Class at Petsmart. We really like it! We have an excellent trainer and she is very knowledgable. There are a total of 6 puppies in the class and the largest is about 25 pounds - a mix pup. They are on a leash at all times and it's your responsibility to watch your dog. There is a Boxer, the Mix Dog, a teenie tiny Poodle, a Rat Terrier, a Sh*tzu and my yorkie, Ginger. I sat down between the teenie tiny poodle (the smallest dog I have ever seen ... period) and a baby rat terrier. We take the same seats each time. So far we haven't had any incidents what so ever. The boxer and the mixed dog are at the back of the area. They have gotten close enough to smell noses but that's it. There hasn't been any romping or dropping of leashes. I was very worried about Ginger's size before the class but now it doesn't seem to be an issue. I'm glad we are taking it... for many reasons. Before I signed up, I asked what other pups were enrolled. They told me right up front what kind of pups were on the list. They also offer a Petite Class for all ages but that didn't start until the end of April and it was more for socialization than basic commands. Maybe they have that in your area and you would feel more comfortable?
Anyway, give it at try! Nothing to lose. Worst case ... get your money back. |
