The place I took them to for day care has you pay $15 the first time to have them evaluated. Mine passed and were put in a "pee wee" group. They told me they didn't join in the play the first time but did a lot of sniffing and watching the other dogs. I guess it's baby steps.
The trainer that came to the house said I needed to desensitize them from sounds. I take them in the kitchen and get ready to toss a lot of treats on the floor (like feeding the chickens) at the same time have another person knock on the door or ring the bell. They should want the food more than going to the door to bark. They woofed a few times but it wasn't worth giving up the treats. It's going to take a lot more practice to break them. She said if I keep working at it that they will eventually stop. I'll let you know if she was right. |
