I recommend you grind up the dry puppy food in a blender until it is really fine. Leave down a bowl of this ground up puppy food. I use the small double sided bowls sold at wal-mart. I put the ground dry food in both sides of the bowl and I also leave down a double sided bowl of water. Mom is not as likely to gobble up the dry food although she will eat some.

I never completely separate momma and babies at that age but my mommas are always able to get away from the puppies if they want too.
