I don't have a huge opinion except I thought it was worth saying that if you try to get a dog from overseas it has to sit in Quarintine for several months in between country's until they let you know if you can have it come home. It could sit there for 6 months somewhere in a kennel (probably owned by the government) and that doesn't seem like a healthy thing for any dog. So my only suggestion would be to avoid the whole overseas thing. Good Luck, I am sure you can find something in the states when the time is right.
