At the time, enough people complained about the OS that select manufacturers like Sony, Dell, Gateway, etc, were offering their customers an official copy of XP. Sony did send XP to me and now that's what I've been running ever since. I believe it was a limited time deal and available for only the business class users and up (not for those with Home Edition, etc.) but I could be wrong. Much like a little before I got the Vaio, I had an Asus and it came with XP (it was just before all new systems got Vista pre-installed) but I qualified for getting an official copy of Vista in the mail, but had neglected to do so until it was too late. It's always good to be given an extra option.

The reason why I'm not sure that they offer the same deal now is that I've heard since Service Pack 1 came out, Vista has been running smoother.
