This happened to both Bella and Luigi. We were able to release it when it happened to Bella when she was tiny. But after that we started buying cat collars with tug release clasps until she got older. It happened to Luigi last week twice and all I had to do was tug each side and it popped open, thank god because it was tight when it got into his mouth. I put collars on them just so I can put their name tag and a bell so they jingle and I know where they are at all times. I had to remove Luigi's though because he kept getting it in his mouth because the smallest cat collar is still a tad too big (he is 2.2 lbs.). Maybe next week it will fit since he is a little piggy and loves to eat.
