I agree with this and Quicksilver's idea about blotting a new pad with an old one or even use the pad to clean up an accident, then place the pad back where you want them to go.

Also, learn your pups habits and body language, you'll pick up on cues that will help you know when to scoop them up and take them to the pad. Keep treats by the pad so you can immediately reward a good potty.
