I would not recommend a mini unless you mainly use it for travelling. for the same features they are higher priced/over priced.
I've had two of the sony vaio minis. first one, I had it for three year(barely made through), was constantly having virus issues while all the protection are properly installed.
the second one was a sony vaio tx series, 11inches, and super lite with very good battery life, paid $2800 for it(including tax), I was so excited when I got it that I didn't even think about warranty. and a year a half later, the motherboard just died from overheating (I used as my primary computer) and to replace it it costs $700 plus labor, and did I mention I did not get warranty on it???
so I just got a toshiba 13.3" this time, still not too big, but not mini. hopefully this one is a performer rather than a looker
