If you want to go all out, I suggest getting another rat, eating half of it yourself, and then bringing the other half to share with mommy.
My mommy had a lot of cats growing up, and sometimes they would bring half eaten things home and put them in people's beds. Sometimes humans act very ungratefully no matter how nice the gift is.
I'm too small to catch a rat, but I do hope one day to bring down a pigeon.
