I never punished to accidents. I just cleaned them up and ignored them. I always stuck to positive reinforcement. Any time mine went on the pad, we had a giant celebration with a food reward. Pretty soon, they will go over and pee a tiny spot on the pad to get your attention and get a treat. It really worked for mine.
