I got mine quick too. I have the same feeling, I loved how Daisy's coat came out shining and moisturized (beautiful) but I didn't care for the scent. It was so strong that I was worried that Daisy would be overcome from it during the night. I called the company the next day and they said you can certainly dilute it and it will not lessen the "protection from biting insects" that the label mentions. And it should not smell as strong if diluted.
The Directions for "home" use says to put a small amount in your hand and apply to a wet dog. The directions for groomers says dilute 4:1 to 10:1. I didn't get why they say dilute it for groomers but not for home use.
When I mentioned that I didn't care for the fragrance the guy mentioned that they have been considering offering other fragrances in addition to this one.
