I'd stay away from baby food fruit because it's just more sugar. Like Nutrical, it's great when his sugar drops too low to bring it up quickly, but he'll just crash again if he doesn't have food.
Lady is an insulin dependent diabetic so we've had our share of hypo episodes. I give her fruit, jelly, pancake syrup, etc. when she drops too low and gets shakey, but as soon as possible I give her a good carb/protein meal that will keep her blood sugar up.
Unless Buster is really shakey, concentrate on getting him to eat some canned food, pureed chicken and rice, etc. every two hours to keeps his blood sugar stable.
Poor baby. Did your vet think he might be younger than what you were told? Puppy mills often forge the age on paperwork to make a old enough to sell.
