Help!

We recently took down Bailey's pen and are allowing him freedom in the first floor of our home because he was doing so well with his puppy pads in his pen. Now that he is roming around he is peeing all over my white carpet and ignoring the fact that his puppy pad is in the kitchen where it always has been. I'm not sure what to do. He will go potty outside when we tell him to go and will go on his pad when I ask him if he has to go potty but as soon as I go to work there are #1 and #2 piles all over my house.

Also, he has been eating at my sheetrock walls on the edges. Has anyone else had this problem? He has chewed all the way down to the metal in my wall.
