There's no guarantees, and an awful lot depends on Maximus's temperment and patience levels I think....

But at four pounds, my little boy has a wonderful time playing with our neighbor's very gentle and patient 20lb cairn terrier. The neighbor's dog likes to chase little Nikko around, and uses one paw to put him in headlocks whenever he can actually catch him, which Nikko loves trying to squirm out of. :-) The rest of the time, Nikko jumps all over the bigger dog's face, who just growls and wags his tail and then usually tries putting Nikko into another headlock.

We invite the neighbor's dog over all the time because he's left home alone all day every day, and besides - he does an awesome job of helping to burn off some of Nikko's excess of energy! I wish we could get another dog ourselves, but that's just not possible right now.
