Is he getting dirty around his feet, or completely? I put shoes on my puppy when I take her for walks and it helps a lot. Plus, she always wears some sort of shirt or sweater over her harness. I haven't noticed her get very dirty, but then again, she's a short haired breed. But I would definitely look into shoes.
