There has been some very good advice here. Paisley had her first liter almost 5 weeks ago. So far I have paid $45 for the initial exam to have her checked before she gave birth, $67 to have tails docked and dew claws removed, $62 to have the stitch removed from their tails and their first deworming and since Paisley had a large liter (she had 5 pups-large for the small breed) she developed milk fever so there was another $235 for the visit to the Emergency vet at 6am on a Sunday morning...not to mention what I went through having to leave her so they could give IV's. Now, we are hand feeding 5 pups and their food is $1.15 a can and they go through 2 cans in 3 days. You never know what might go wrong and how much it will cost to save your baby(ies).
I think it is great that you want to help out people out but realistically you never know how much you may have to spend to save a liter or to even keep them healthy once they get here. Oh, I didn't mention the cost to register your babies if you register them. I want to say it was $35 to register Paisley's liter...my hubby paid since I paid all the vet fees. It can be costly to breed.
