we have directv in our house , but i have a hair shop next to my house and i had that tv just on antenna. well i got my coupon and went online to look at converter boxes because some people locally told me that some of the ones at Walmart has already stopped working.... well i went online (if you want, i will look it up for you and let you know the website) i read alot of reviews on different ones before i commited to buy one. this one i got had alot of good reviews compared to others
well on this site i found one that was 40.01.....so i actually paid 1 cent plus shipping, but it wasn't bad.

well i got the box and hooked it up. box works great, but i had to go buy a digital antenna for it to work better. I got one on TigerDirect.com - Computers, Computer Parts, Computer Components & Electronics for 19.99. it actually lays flat on top of the tv. it made it pick up more channels.

but i'm like you very fustrated with the whole deal because on directv i can't get one of our local channels and with the antenna in my shop, i could see the news everyday, Now i can't get that channel with this box at all. one of our fox stations has already switched over....i think they switched in Dec.

some days the box tells me either weak signal or no signal on some channels which really stinks if you want to watch something. i agree with you. i don't like it at all.

oh and I put all of this on an older tv. let me know if i can help you any way
because i was trying to save money too.
