I have two males that are 11 months apart. I waited until my first was potty trained before I got the second. Snickers (the older one) immediately established his dominance over Baxter, and Baxter accepted it as a puppy. It took about two weeks for them to relax with each other, but after that it was (and still is) great.
They are best buddies and brothers, and play and rough-house around constantly. I think having two (or more!) is the best!
