I just wanted to note that anyone getting a bile acid test will need to have that done before the day of surgery. Most of the times preop bloodwork gets done the morning of the surgery, unless you schedule it and the bile acid test a few days ahead of time. They can't do the bile acid test the day of surgery because it requires feeding (and no food before surgery). So what you can do is schedule to have preop bloodwork and a bile acid test done within the week before the surgery (it usually takes 1-3 days to get bile acid test results back).
