Hi there -- just wanted to encourage you and Olivia re the dental. My Oliver, now 14, just had one a couple of weeks ago. (This is probably his 4th; I would need to check his records.) He did very well; took some time to come out of the anesthesia, which is normal, even after I brought him home.
If you have trust in your vet (which I do-- they have been a twosome since O was a baby) and s/he recommends a dental, I encourage you to proceed. The other YTers are right: Olivia's health risks WITHOUT a dental are far worse. After you've been through the procedure with her one time, you will be much more comfortable.
Good luck, and let us know. We'll be thinking of you. Oliver and Carol in St. Louis
P.S. It was a cold, cold day here when I took O in for his recent dental. Dr. A already had a heating pad waiting for him in his crate! Wrap your baby in a towel that smells like home; she can snuggle in it as she wakes up from the procedure and it will comfort her. |
