The coat of either breed doesn't bother me.... seriousely, after a chow, these dogs are nothing!!

I am doing more and more research on both breeds, trying to decide what would work best with my family and I. We like to travel and having 3 kids, I do want a dog that can handle them, even though they are all super gentle and I have a zero tolerance for anything in my house! lol Even with my chow my kids are allowed to play with him(ball, fetch, etc) but no tug-a-war, no rough housing and no chase..... I won't take the chance of someone getting bit or the dog getting hurt because someone got out of hand.
I want a indoor dog but one that can handle being outside for a while too and can go camping and get dirty. But yet one that likes to kick and watch tv but isn't overbearing and in your face all the time...
The other thing I know I want is to have a dog that is not a 'yapper'.... my sister has a chihuahua and honestly that thing drives me NUTS! It will bark for no reason, it will bark if you talk while it is sleeping, it barks when a plane goes by, it barks when the wind blows... it barks at EVERYTHING! I can't handle it! lol

I think it will just come down to more research and more planning. I am hoping I have a long time to wait before I have to make this choice(after my chow is gone) but at the same time, I am very excited.

If anyone has any other knowledge on the Norwich, please let me know.... or any on the Yorkie for that matter.... Or if you have a different breed suggestion....
If you want a yorkie, I would get a bigger yorkie. One of my boys is 13 lbs and completely sturdy. He's big enough where the kids would have a harder time hurting him and he's not too much for them to handle either.

Also, have you thought about a havanese? My BIL is 15 and soooo rough, but his havanese is VERY sturdy and can handle it surprisingly. He's about the same size as my 13 lber, but he's shorter and thicker. Smokey (my 13 lber) is tall, long, and lanky. The havanese is a really fun dog too!
