I don't dilute it, and I don't think its needed, just make sure you shake the bottle to mix all the oils in it, I also leave for 5 min. and follow with Pantene, I think it's slick and shine or something like that, I never wash twice, unless he's had gotten into "something smelly" , I think excess washing may dry the skin and hair instead of doing some good IMO. I also add a few drops of Rosemary oil to the sample bottle, it's a natural insect repellent
