I would honestly tell you to maybe see if he will gain some weight, and then have it done. I am a firm believer in spaying and neutering your animals if you dont plan on breeding them. My little mini dachshund was neutered at 10 months old, and he weighted at that time about 6 lbs and he did great. You might want to ask about getting bloodwork done pre surgery, to make sure his levels are where they need to be. Mostly neutering is a simple quick process, that i would tell ya he'd do great!
