I also have a cat and i was worried when I brought Brandi home. My cat is very standoffish and hates everyone. She is very much a primma donna. However they did work things out. They pretty much just ignore each other. My cat also hissed at Brandi in the beginning but now Brandi keeps her distance from Zoey (the cat).

Your little one will hopefully will learned to just stay away from the cat or they can become the best of friends. Zoey doesn't even acknowledge Brandi's presence anymore after they got used to each other. Every now and then Zoey wants to play with Brandi but Brandi keeps her distance. When I first brought her home Zoey took a couple of swats at Brandi and that pretty much cured any curiosty Brandi had about Zoey.

The only time when Brandi growls at Zoey is when Zoey wants to sleep on me....Brandi doesn't want me to show any attention to Zoey.

I think in time, they will learn to tolerate each other. They need to get used to each other. Just give them some time and monitor their interactions in the beginning to make sure the cat doesn't scratch up your little one. Hope this helps.
