I know someone who has recently been through IUI, which is when you are artificially inseminated by a donar, (in my friend's case it was her partner). I'm not sure if it works on the same principal or not over there but basically how hers worked was she was inseminated and then after 4wks she was told to come back and they would see which eggs were the biggest and most viable. The smaller ones were removed to give the bigger ones more of a fighting chance. She then went back 2wks later and out of the 3 eggs that had been left only one had a heartbeat. Should any of the others had one she would of been given the choice of what to do with them, either remove or let nature take it's course.
She had a healthly baby girl 6months ago, Amelia's cousin.
