Being playful is a good sign except that you have to be mindful that if he's not eating much, he'll burn up all his reserves and his blood sugar could drop. Keep some Nutri-Cal or Karo on hand. You could give him some a couple times a day for now; just a dab od Nutri-Cal or about 1 cc of Karo to keep his blood sugar up. Also, limit his playtime for now to keep him from burning himself out. He should be getting his teeth in so may be able to eat some kibble. You can leave that out all day so he always has something to eat. He should be eating 3-4 times a day at this stage. Just be extra careful with him for now until you're sure he's progressing well.
