Joey had to have 6 teeth pulled during neutering, some might have come out on their own, but usually there are a couple that need help and since you don't want to risk anesthesia twice, you pull all the remaining baby teeth during neutering. Some people wait for neutering later, but many male dogs have started to mark at 8 months, and you want to neuter before marking begins. |
My Momo had shark teeth. He retained all his puppy teeth (6 on top, between the canines) thus the double row of teeth. I used to pull his lips up & look at it & freak out & hum the theme tune from 'Jaws'. The strange thing was that none of them were loose, I couldn't even pull them out w/a wash cloth. My vet used the term 'double row of teeth', not retained baby teeth, so I'm assuming that it's genetics & it should be bred out.
