What works for me is to keep the leash short, you want her right by your side. I have them sit or stand quietly before we take off. Then I'll say "Lets go this way" and walk off. As soon as they pull or try to rush ahead I say "Quit!" give a gentle bump and stop. They have to sit or stand quietly, they get a good dog from me and off we go again. If it's been awhile since we've walked, it may take 5 or 6 tries to get them to understand and remember. But usually it only takes 1 or 2 times and they walk good beside me. |
