I personally don't believe there is a right or wrong way. It is always hard...regardless. I do keep the mommy with us while prospective buyers are looking and/or playing with the puppy. The mommy will usually try to follow the buyers out the door, I know she is wondering what is going on with her baby. But for me, I would rather her see what is going on than not being able to see. Everybody has their own way of doing things, and whatever works for you, is the right way. I'm not pregnant and still get emotional when one of my puppies goes to their forever home, I just get so attached.
