I saw a neat tip on how to cut your dog's nails. Grab and old pair of pantyhose and shove her nails through them and pull it up over her foot, does that make any sense? Anyway this holds the hair back, you could use this for painting the dog's nails as well, although you would have to keep the panty hose up until the nails dried, so it probably isn't practical either. I haven't tired it yet though, when cutting, so I don't know if it even works.
